I would let the battery die until the phone shuts off and you cant turn it back on and THEN I would put it on the charger just long enough to get a full charge and take it off. I never let my phone charge longer than it takes to get a full battery and then I take it off. I charge my battery(phone) every 3-4 days.
If that doesnt work you need a new battery.

When you got the phone, did you drain the battery a couple of times? You need to do that for it to hold a good charge. I am sure if you did it now, it may work, but don’t trust me on that one.
When you get a new phone, laptop, etc. you need to use it until its completely dead. To where you can’t turn it on even. Charge it all the way. where is says “charge complete” Then do that twice more, and you battery will hold for a lot longer.

if you did not let the battery die all the way after the first charge, it some times kinda kills the battery. you must replace it now, next time let it die all the way.

you need to buy a new replacement battery. I just a replacement for my motorola krzr online for 1/8th of the retail store cost.
